Q&A Book 5-8

What are books 5-8 about: About how Odysseus gets off the island and escapes from Clypso. He then arrived to the Island of Scheria.

What themes do they back up: Hospitality because of when Odysseus arrives to the island and receives a bath, then taken back to the house where he is given food and clothes and somewhere to sleep. Loyalty is also showed in the story.

Whose story do they tell: The story of Odysseus.

Why are they important: They tell the story of Odysseus. We now know where Odysseus is in the land right now, and that he's alive and well.

Odyssey [Book III] Summary

Telemachos and Mentor arrives in Plyos, where he meets Nestor, the King of Plyos. Nestor makes many sacrifices of bulls to Posidon. Telemachos asks Nestor if he knows where and what his father is up too. Nestor doesn't have any clue about Odysseus, but he said that there was a fallout for Agememnon and Menelaus. Meneleaus set sail for Greece, and Agememnon stayed for another day and continued his sacrifices in Troy. Nestor left with Menelaus while Odysseus stayed with Agememnon.
Telemachos will renown his defense agianst his father that Orestes, won in defense of his father. Telemachos asks Nestor about the fate of Agememnon. Aegisthus, Clytemnestra's boyfriend and Agememnon's wife, allows her cowardly boyfriend the approval the murder her husband. Both Clytemnestra and Aegisthus were going to take over the kingdom, if it wasn't for Orestes's actions, which he took and murdered them. Nestor sent his son Pisistatrus along with Telemachos to Sparta.
